Leggwork Productions provides a fully functional B-boy/B-girl (break dancing) workshop. These training courses are geared toward individuals ages 6 to adulthood and all skill levels.
Leggwork Productions offers private, small group and community organized classes which can and will be ran in either a private facility of the customers choosing or open space. Private lessons are more intimately conducted on a personal level & will suit parents who want to train their kids or even adults who want to take personal trainings for themselves or a group of peers. Persons seeking private lessons for themselves, children or friends may find that a concentrated learning experience is achieved.
Daddy Long Leggs is available for hire at any facility that can be used to conduct such courses. General class pricing for private clinics start at $50/h and (1 ½ hr classes are recommended for full rounded sessions) if the program is run through an organization that will provide funds (i.e. a grant) to make these workshops possible an “all in contract” that will satisfy an entire season for a body of students who attend that organization (a school, community center etc) is the way to go. If such funding is unavailable, and students are required to pay their own tuition, then each person is generally charged $25/h each per course (and these can be 45min - 1 1/2h) classes. This also includes most dance studios. Certain programs such as classes at a dance studio where there are many times no contracts furnished will need sign up applications with waivers for everyone joining. (travel rates will also apply beyond 15 mile radius of travel from the Providence/Pawtucket area). If you or your company may be interested in contracting Daddy Long Leggs to provide workshops set up at your place of business or private space, please contact him.
Drop ins to a dance studio or community space are welcomed, but should be negotiated with Leggs beforehand. Upon contracting; an agreement will be formed between both parties and may be constituted to lock in a program that will work for you and your facility for a number of weeks. Dance studios, and community centers will also receive a tailored (unless you decide to furnish your own) “LWP” membership application so that all student info and agreements are documented, and safety waivers are in place. All courses no matter age range, size of class are “always” provided with accompanying stretching and warm up routines before dance. In addition to just dance workshops, which provide the ultimate body workouts, strength training and dance training, a history lesson of the dance is also available through movie media, interactive group discussions & Q&A sessions (Usually school and university based workshops, however this can be the case for private classes also). An intimate dialogue with teacher and students is vital. Daddy Long Leggs will conduct class tutorials that are rich in Hip Hop culture mostly centering the dance element but not limited to that. The DJ, Music and Graffiti aspects are all relevant and play a vital role in the progression of street dance. The use of documentary videos, music listening and “the actual dance elements” together provide the rich nourishment it takes in learning everything that is involved in becoming a complete B-boy/Girl.
Inside The Dance Workshop
As in any well developed dance, “Break dancing” also has a breakdown of foundation basics, intermediate and advanced training. Leggwork productions feature a fine tuned curriculum set up, and all students will journey through mostly every aspect of the basic(s) foundation level 1 to achieve this. If your organization embarks on extended year round workshops, then higher levels of training will take place pursuant to the student’s progress. Nearly every school across the world is now offering “Street dance” as one of their dance courses as a choice.
Your school/institution should embark upon this as well. We will take from foundation steps created as early as the mid nineteen seventies all the way up to the current unbelievable cutting edge movements of today’s B-boy styles. Foundation movement is normally a course all on its own involving not just dance but attitude, approach (mental & physical) & cultural phenomenon surrounding “street dance culture”. Lessons will be tailored in step-by-step sessions for as long as the entire workshop is run. Students can only excel to the higher levels of dance through this fundamental journey. As in any typical course with a scholastic experience, students may learn at various levels and speeds however before advancing there are a certain number of challenges that must be fulfilled.
These obligations include at least learning 70 percent of what are intended on being instructed; also students are urged to practice at home or elsewhere while not in the attendance of the instructor. "Breaking" is a highly demanding exercise, vigorous and takes much dedication. We urge our students to be as serious and passionate for it as we are. Keep in mind, each block of workshops are generally organized around a 10-12 week season of programs, however sometimes this may be different depending on the structure of the school/organizations needs and the time frame we have to work within.
